Sjurvarden (Stemshesten) is the mountain that juts out towards the sea, and gives a powerful view of Hustadvika, the Atlantic Ocean and the coastal landscape from Sunnmøre in the west and Smøla on Nordmøre in the north. There are two paths to Stemshesten (667 m.a.s.l.), one is from Rødal in Farstad and takes about 1.5 hours on a steep path. The other from the Scot. From here there is a road up to the shooting range, car park and approx. 1 hour’s walk to the top. The mountain range has several peaks: Sjurvarden (532 m.a.s.l.), Skotheimsvarden (548 m.a.s.l.) and Mælen (769 m.a.s.l.)
